Jan 08, 2020 $ python -version. To check latest version of python 2.x.x: $ python2 -version. To check latest version of python 3.x.x: $ python3 -version. Clearly it won’t be the latest version of python. There can be multiple methods to install python on a linux base system and it all depends on your linux system. Setting up database connections. On MacOS and Linux, there are two separate text files that need to be edited. UnixODBC includes a command-line executable called odbcinst, which can be used to query and modify the DSN files. Python downloads are located here (you will need to create a free MySQL login to download first). Make sure you choose the correct version, i.e. (python2.1.7 vs. Only the 'Architecture Independent' version worked for me.

- I am using OSX, so all my connections using -h localhost went straight to the MySQL instance on the host itself (via socket, -port is ignored). Using 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost forces a TCP connection on the right port, thus on the right container. And I ran brew stop mysql, it worked.
- $ mycli-help Usage: mycli OPTIONS DATABASE A MySQL terminal client with auto-completion and syntax highlighting. Examples:-mycli mydatabase-mycli-u myuser-h myhost. Com mydatabase-mycli mysql: // myuser @myhost. Com: 3306 / mydatabase Options:-h,-host TEXT Host address of the database.-P,-port INTEGER Port number to use for.

Windows
Building mysqlclient on Windows is very hard.But there are some binary wheels you can install easily.
macOS (Homebrew)
Brew Multiple Mysql Versions
Install MySQL and mysqlclient:
If you don't want to install MySQL server, you can use mysql-client instead:
Linux
Note that this is a basic step. I can not support complete step for build for allenvironment. If you can see some error, you should fix it by yourself, or ask forsupport in some user forum. Don't file a issue on the issue tracker.
You may need to install the Python 3 and MySQL development headers and libraries like so:
$ sudo apt-get install python3-dev default-libmysqlclient-dev build-essential# Debian / Ubuntu% sudo yum install python3-devel mysql-devel# Red Hat / CentOS
Then you can install mysqlclient via pip now:
Customize build (POSIX)
mysqlclient uses mysql_config or mariadb_config by default for findingcompiler/linker flags.
You can use MYSQLCLIENT_CFLAGS and MYSQLCLIENT_LDFLAGS environmentvariables to customize compiler/linker options.
